Natural remedies for hair

As some of my friends might know already, I do love looking out for beauty related items, watching beauty guru channels on YouTube. I mean, its for the sake of fun, leisure and confidence for me. ;)

So...what is this post about? No it is definitely not about makeup, but perhaps the very first step to it, which is to maintain a rather healthy hair. Yeah your head, basically. I have been trying out different methods that could make my hair more conditioned, scalp more purified. Here are some ways I have experimented and learned about.

Hair  & Scalp

Let me be frank with myself. I did have some issues upon having a slight flaky and itchy scalp earlier. My hair tends to be more onto the dry side, which might cause dandruff. Tried quite a number of products (eg. natural, anti-dandruff shampoos), but it keeps coming back. I do like the sulfate-free shampoos though, they have a nice fragrance to it but the thing is... they are pricey. So one day I was like "hey...let me research on cheaper ways then". After all, the internet is full of resources, both good and bad ones. And we have adults to ask for ways that are passed down from one generation to another.

I stepped upon various remedies hair treatments everyone can do at home (mini "DIY"), and decided to try some of which I felt convinced with, on some particular days. I will share my honest opinions.

Egg white + honey + lime hair mask:
Get an egg, two tablespoons of honey and 1/4 slice of lime.

Yes, EGGS! Now people who are new to this would be like "what the heck..." but trust me, it does its own job! With the removal of the egg yolk, which is believe to give out a more stinky smell. The egg white, on the other hand contains bacteria-eating enzymes. In another words, it removes unwanted or excess oils on the scalp. I don't need the egg yolk although it moisturizes the hair. Instead, I replaced it with something less stinkier, but more sweeter - honey! The lime? Its acidic liquid removes unwanted bacteria/fungus on the head. Hence, one will have a less itchy scalp = need not scratch so much = lesser hair falling off later.

The aftermath; I did see results, I got a more shinier, silkier hair (I think thanks to the egg white and honey) and less itchier scalp (thanks to lime).

Warm olive/coconut/tea-tree oil treatment:
Just a few teaspoons on the tips of hair will do.

So after putting on the oil on the tips of my hair (not the roots, that will only make the hair appears more oily looking), I used a towel (preferably functioned for hair) soaked with warm water and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before washing up.

The aftermath; I think it gives out like how a normal drugstore conditioner does, except that it adds up more oil, and food smell. Therefore, intensive washing is needed in order to clear that extra oil on my hair. More effort is required. I feel like my hair was stained, mainly because I accidentally put more olive oil than what is expected? Hmm.

Onion treatment:
Peeled onion used to soak out its liquid.

The steps told here are more brief. I just soaked the liquid out and spread it throughout my hair line, head..

The aftermath; they say onion helps in hair growth, but till now...I don't really see results. Perhaps maybe overtime? I cannot tell unless I persist on by doing the same thing once every week (at least). Otherwise, I prefer sticking to my lime + other ingredients hair mask.

FYI, if you're willing to try out for fun, I would advice you to choose ingredients wisely, or what you think will be suitable for both your scalp and hair. What type of hair do you have? More onto the dry, or oily side? Each person differs from someone else so do more research. ;D

Next stop on my Caliciousy beauty diary, I would really love to talk about facial routines and all things regarding face. Again, not everything I say might me applicable for everyone but well, see you soon!
